In a harsh environment, Minato, a boy who has survived by joining forces with his beloved dog, Taro, meets his end without anyone helping them.

However, chosen by a god, Minato is reborn in another world as an apostle, while Taro is reborn as a divine beast. The request from the god upon their rebirth is to live leisurely and help spirits and sacred beasts.

As Minato and Taro who are no longer young, they begin a laid-back country life in the tranquil forests of the otherworld.
