When he awoke from his dream, he saw a woman beside him. For some reason, tears streamed down his cheeks.

“Who am I?”

The woman merely wiped away his tears. Her fingers, wrapped in the cool dawn breeze, were cold.

“Who are you…?”

She looked as if she had just stepped out for a walk before dawn, like a goddess of ancient mythology, perhaps the goddess of the dawn herself.

It was strange. Though he had all the words to describe the woman, he had no memory of himself. It felt as though his memories were deeply buried, or perhaps he had buried them himself. He couldn’t even remember that.

As he tried to focus on her lips, a lullaby-like voice echoed in his mind. His eyelids grew heavy.

He felt himself slipping away into oblivion, his consciousness drifting far into the distance, deep within his dreams.
