Summary
River’s End is a poignant Japanese light novel that follows the story of Shunji Tokame, a young man burdened by financial responsibilities and devoid of emotional connections until he befriends Hiroshi Ninomiya. Through this unlikely friendship, Tokame discovers warmth and kindness, leading to a gradual transformation of his once-frozen heart. The novel intricately weaves together the title story 'River’s End' with 'God Bless You' and 'End Roll,' delving into Tokame’s struggles and growth into adulthood. Set in the same universe as Castle Mango by Konohara-sensei, this work explores themes of adult life, drama, romance, and yaoi, capturing the essence of caring protagonists, friendship, and unrequited love amidst a backdrop of personal evolution and heartfelt connections.

Description

For Shunji Tokame, life was all about working part-time to pay off his father’s debt and barely managing to feed himself, his older sister, and his younger brother day by day. High school and friends meant nothing to him.

However, by chance, he begins talking to his classmate Hiroshi Ninomiya. Gradually, Tokame finds his frozen heart beginning to thaw, warmed by Ninomiya’s kindness and brightness.

Alongside the title story, “River’s End,” this novel includes “God Bless You” and “End Roll,” which explore Tokame’s inner conflicts as he matures into adulthood. These stories share the same universe as Castle Mango, a manga written by Konohara-sensei.
