Tale of the Moon Waiting for the Night

Yohana Sakaki is a high school student who lives in a town where the Yashiro family—a clan of “Kamutsukasa”—exorcists who banish evil spirits—holds tremendous power.

Kamutsukasa refers to a person or group of people responsible for performing religious or spiritual duties specifically related to exorcising or banishing evil spirits.

Yohana lives with her grandmother after losing her parents.

She is invited to assist at a summer banquet hosted by the Yashiro family, who are distant relatives.

However, she accidentally falls into a pond during the preparations.

Hearing the commotion, a strikingly handsome young man, the Yashiro family’s heir candidate appears.

He approaches Yohana.

“My mate…”—but then lifts up a female classmate behind her.

No one pays any attention to Yohana, who stands alone, drenched and humiliated, in the pond.

Yet, a mysteriously beautiful boy named Chitose helps her.

He takes her to his residence on the Yashiro estate to hide her.

Furthermore, Chitose recognizes that Yohana possesses the divine powers of a “Marebito.”

Yohana is recognized as a marebito, suggesting she holds a divine or mystical power that sets her apart from ordinary people, gives her a special role in the unfolding events, and possibly connects her to the spiritual world or gods.

Yohana is taken under the Yashiro family’s protection, with Chitose as her guardian.

She starts assisting with the work of the hiks.
